Obviously surrogacy has become a very successful and popular way to have a baby for those that are unable to conceive. Not too long ago a phrase was coined to explain going overseas to begin the surrogacy process and that is surrogacy tourism. As surrogacy is an expensive procedure many people are turning to less expensive options in which to fulfill their dream of becoming parents and going overseas for this procedure is a cheaper alternative.
To better understand the process and its expenses, and why surrogacy tourism is a viable option, it helps to understand what is involved in the procedure. When a surrogate agrees to carry a baby there is usually a contract signed by both parties. The two basic types include Natural Surrogate where the surrogate becomes inseminated with the sperm from the man resulting in the child being genetically related to the surrogate and the male partner but not the commissioning woman partner. IVF Surrogacy is where the surrogate carries the child that was created by the sperm and egg of the genetic couple and is not related genetically to the child.
